Ingredients

TTEOKBOKKI

  • 500 g rice cake (approximately 2 ½ to 3 cups)
  • ¾ cup water
  • cup ground beef (3 ounces)
  • ½ small onion, sliced

SAUCE

  • 3 tablespoons San-J Organic Tamari 25% Less Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Chopped scallions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Directions

  • Soak the rice cake in cold water for about 10 minutes.
  • Marinate the ground beef with the sauce in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  • In a nonstick skillet, cook the meat and onion until the meat is 75% cooked.
  • Add water and the rice cake (approximately 2.5 to 3 cups). Let it come to a boil, then lower the heat. Simmer for about 9-10 minutes or until the rice cake is soft and tender.
  • Plate, garnish, and drizzle extra tamari.
