Asian Spins on Classic Recipes

Written by: San-J Posted on: March 24, 2020

If you’re a foodie always on the hunt for something new, why not expand your cooking repertoire at home and surprise your taste buds with Asian-inspired flavor? The right mix of seasonings and ingredients will change the way you enjoy the usual dishes on the table.

Here are five recipes that offer an exciting Asian twist!

Korean Sloppy Joes

Sloppy joes are a backyard barbecue favorite. After you heat ground pork and beef in an oiled skillet with diced onion, add San-J Korean BBQ Sauce and beef broth. Top this sweet sandwich filling with a mix of coleslaw or cilantro, or add a few pickled jalapeños. Whichever way you decide to build these, it’s sure to be a cookout hit!

Korean BBQ Chicken Pizza

Nothing beats a bubbly, melted layer of cheese on a golden doughy crust. Roll out a fresh pizza in the kitchen with a diverse list of toppings, including cooked shredded chicken, red onion and mozzarella cheese. You can also prepare it with a pre-made crust if you’re short on time.

Instead of the typical tomato sauce, we suggest a blend of San-J Korean BBQ Sauce, San-J Hoisin Sauce and ketchup, brushed thinly over the crust for a tasty complement to the chicken. For an extra Asian flair, use sliced shiitake mushrooms and green onions. Can your local pizza restaurant top that?

Honey Soy Glazed Turkey

This recipe uses San-J Tamari Soy Sauce to brine the turkey, along with honey, molasses, orange wedges, sage, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and peppercorns. Once the bird sits overnight and later finishes roasting, a coat of honey, tamari and balsamic vinegar completes the flavorful glaze. Try it for the next family get-together on Thanksgiving or any occasion.

Szechuan Beef Spinach Salad

When you’re tired of pouring out bowls of store-bought bagged salads, it’s time to make your own delicious and nutritious meal of meat and veggies in one. Marinate steak strips in our Szechuan Sauce and stir fry afterward with red bell peppers and onions. Combine the cooked ingredients with baby spinach and rice vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. You’ll have a balanced plate with fresh greens and a bit of heat!

Thai Peanut Pasta Salad

Pasta salad is a yummy, simple dish to bring to a picnic or pass around the table. Using your favorite pasta, combine with diced yellow bell peppers, grape tomatoes, cucumber slices and cilantro. For the dressing, just stir in San-J Thai Peanut Sauce to your taste and spice preferences. Feel free to toss additional vegetables in with this pasta salad to get all your family’s favorites in the mix, like bits of carrot or red onion.
