San-J prints a Best Before Date (aka Lot Code) on all products, which refers to unopened product. The code reads MONTH, DAY, YEAR (MMM/DD/YY). For example, MAR2326 means the product is best before March, 23, 2026.
The Best Before Date (Lot Code) can be found in the following locations:
- Tamari, No Soy Tamari, Splash, Shoyu, Asian Cooking Sauces – Printed in white ink on the neck of the bottle between the cap and label.
- White Miso & Wakame Soups – Imprinted on the front of the package in the lower right-hand corner.
- Brown Rice Crackers – Printed on the bottom of the package.
- Organic Tamari Portion Packs (200 pack) – Printed on the case
- Tamari Lite 50% Less Sodium Portion Packs (200 packs) – Printed on individual pack
- Organic Tamari To Go Travel Packs – Sticker on the bottom panel
Once opened, it is best to use within 1 month for table use and within 3 months for cooking use.
