Tamari Soy Sauce Ice Cream Topping

  • 1/2 cup San-J Tamari Less Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 tbsp mirin

Directions

  • Put all ingredients into a pot. Heat the pot, stirring the mixture to dissolve the sugar.
  • When the temperature of the mixture reaches 185ºF, keep the temperature and heat it for 5 hours, mixing it every 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  • After cooking for 5 hours, it should be the consistency of light syrup. Store the sauce in a glass jar, tighten the lid and cool it in ice water.
  • After the sauce cools, pour it over your favorite ice cream and serve.
