Put all ingredients into a pot. Heat the pot, stirring the mixture to dissolve the sugar.
When the temperature of the mixture reaches 185ºF, keep the temperature and heat it for 5 hours, mixing it every 30 minutes to prevent burning.
After cooking for 5 hours, it should be the consistency of light syrup. Store the sauce in a glass jar, tighten the lid and cool it in ice water.
After the sauce cools, pour it over your favorite ice cream and serve.
